Wix to Shopify Migration Without Losing
What You've Built

I'm Tony Cooper, a Shopify migration specialist based in Telford with 27 years in ecommerce. Wix is a website builder that bolted on ecommerce. Shopify was built to sell from day one. I migrate your entire store — products, customers, content, SEO rankings — with zero downtime and nothing left behind.

Why Businesses Outgrow Wix

Wix works for simple websites. But when selling is the point, the limitations start costing you money. Here's what I see when businesses come to me.

Checkout That Leaks Sales

Wix's checkout is functional but basic. Shopify's is used by millions of stores and constantly optimised for conversion. Shop Pay alone increases checkout speed by 4x. That difference is money you're leaving on the table every day.

  • 100+ payment gateways worldwide
  • Shop Pay accelerated checkout

Wix's Walled Garden

Need email marketing, subscription boxes, wholesale pricing, or multi-channel selling? Wix locks you into their own tools. Shopify's app store has over 8,000 options — the difference between a platform that grows with you and one that holds you back.

  • 8,000+ Shopify apps vs Wix's handful
  • Multi-location inventory tracking

Sell Everywhere, Not Just Your Site

Shopify connects directly to Amazon, eBay, Instagram Shopping, TikTok Shop, and Google Shopping from one dashboard. Manage inventory across every channel. Wix can't do this.

  • Amazon, eBay, Instagram, TikTok, Google
  • One dashboard for all channels

Why I Handle Migrations Differently

Migration gets treated as a data dump. The real work is preserving everything you've built in search — and that requires someone who's done it before.

One Person, Start to Finish

I do the audit, the Shopify build, the data migration, the SEO redirects, and the launch. No project managers relaying messages. No junior developers learning on your migration. When you call, you speak to the person who moved your store.

27 years of migration experience

I've migrated stores from EKM, WooCommerce, Magento, and bespoke platforms to Shopify. I've seen what goes wrong when migrations are rushed — broken redirects, lost product data, rankings that vanish overnight. That experience means I know where the traps are before they cost you money.

SEO Is the Migration, Not an Add-on

A botched migration can destroy years of search rankings overnight. I map every URL, transfer every meta title and description, set up every 301 redirect, and test the lot before the DNS switch. Your Google rankings are the whole point of doing this properly. Read more about my approach to SEO services.

Honest Recommendations

If Wix is actually serving you well and the migration isn't worth it, I'll tell you — I lay out exactly when that's the right call in Wix vs Shopify. If a simpler ecommerce solution would suit you better than Shopify, I'll recommend that instead. I'd rather give you the right advice than sell you a migration you don't need.

Real Migration Experience

Fireproof Spray — EKM to Shopify

A specialist fire safety products company stuck on EKM — a platform with limited SEO capability and no growth path. I migrated the entire operation to Shopify: products, customers, order history, with full URL redirect mapping to preserve their search rankings. The kind of project where attention to detail is the difference between a smooth transition and a rankings collapse.

Six Luxury Ecommerce Properties

I built and manage six Shopify stores in garden furniture, indoor furniture, office furniture, candles, lighting, and rugs. High average order values, dropship fulfilment, supplier CSV integration. These aren't client sites — they're my own businesses. Every platform decision has my money behind it. I chose Shopify for all six.

The Wix Migration Challenge

Wix wasn't designed for easy data export. Products, images, and content need methodical extraction rather than a simple CSV download. I've developed a reliable process for getting everything out of Wix cleanly — including the proprietary URL structures that make redirect mapping a manual, careful job.

How I Migrate Your Wix Store

Your Wix store stays live and taking orders throughout. The Shopify store is built alongside it, tested, then switched over.

1

Audit Your Wix Store

I go through every product, page, digital download, integration, and custom form. Nothing gets missed because I document it all before touching a line of code.

2

Build on Shopify

Your new store is built on a development URL. Theme, payments, shipping, tax — all configured and tested while your Wix site keeps trading.

3

Migrate and Redirect

Products, customers, and content move across. Every Wix URL gets a 301 redirect to its Shopify equivalent. Meta data transfers. Rankings stay.

4

Launch and Train

Full testing, then the DNS switch — which takes minutes. I monitor the first 48 hours, provide Shopify admin training, and make sure you're confident.

Everything Migrates

Nothing gets left behind. Here's what transfers from your Wix store to Shopify.

Products

Titles, descriptions, pricing, images, variants, SKUs, inventory levels, digital downloads. All verified after transfer.

Customers

Names, emails, addresses, purchase history. Accounts ready for login on your new Shopify store.

SEO

Page titles, meta descriptions, image alt text, 301 redirects for every URL, sitemaps submitted to Google.

Plus: Collections and categories, blog posts, content pages, forms, and integrations. I identify every Wix feature you're using and configure the best Shopify equivalent — tested before launch.

Three Ways to Move from Wix to Shopify

Two of them don't involve me, and I'd rather you picked the right one than paid me for the wrong one. Here's what each route actually costs.

Do It Yourself, By Hand

There is a free way to migrate from Wix to Shopify, and it's worth knowing before you pay anyone. Wix will export your products as a CSV. You reformat that for Shopify's importer, then rebuild everything else by hand — the theme, the pages, the collections, the navigation.

Right when: the catalogue is small, the store is new, and there are no search rankings to protect. If nobody is finding you on Google yet, there's nothing to lose in the move, and moving from Wix to Shopify yourself is a perfectly sensible weekend.

The catch: Wix doesn't hand you your customers, your orders or your URLs in any useful shape, and nothing about this route creates the 301 redirects that carry your search visibility across. If the store earns from Google, this is the expensive option wearing a free label.

A Migration App

Tools like Matrixify and LitExtension will move products, customers and order history from Wix into Shopify for a fee that scales with how many records you have. They are genuinely good at the part they do.

Right when: you have a real catalogue, your Wix data is tidy, and you're comfortable building the storefront yourself once the data has landed.

The catch: an app moves data, not a store. The theme is still yours to build, and the redirect map is still yours to write — the apps don't know which old Wix address should point at which new Shopify one. Free tiers exist and they cap the record count, which is usually discovered halfway through.

Have It Done Properly

I switch your store from Wix to Shopify end to end for a fixed £1,490 in about two weeks — products, customers, content, theme, and the redirect map that keeps your rankings. Your Wix store stays live and trading the whole time.

Right when: the store makes money, search brings some of it, and a month of lost visibility would cost more than the migration does.

The catch: it isn't free. What you're buying is the part the other two routes leave out — the search side, done by someone who has moved stores before and takes a baseline first so there's proof either way.

If you're weighing up switching from Wix to Shopify and you're not sure which of those three you are, ring me and I'll tell you honestly. I've talked people out of paying me before, and I'd rather do that than take a fee for a job you could have done yourself.
