Ecommerce Website Design UK
Online Stores That Actually Sell
I design and build ecommerce websites for UK businesses that need more than a template. Shopify stores, product catalogues, subscription models — built by one person with 26 years of doing this, not a rotating cast of juniors.
What I Build
Not every online business needs the same thing. Here's what I actually deliver, and I'll tell you honestly which one fits your situation.
Shopify Stores
Full ecommerce with inventory management, automated shipping, payment processing, and everything else a product-based business needs. This is what I recommend for most businesses selling physical goods.
- Product catalogues of any size
- Built-in payment processing
- Shipping integration (Royal Mail, DPD, Evri)
- Inventory tracking and order management
Product Catalogues
For businesses where the sale happens through conversation — manufacturers, trade suppliers, B2B — a fast catalogue site with enquiry forms often works better than a checkout. I build these on Astro for speed that Shopify can't match.
- Sub-second page loads
- Filterable product ranges
- Enquiry forms routed to your inbox
- SEO structure that ranks for product terms
Subscription & Recurring
Membership sites, subscription boxes, recurring services. Stripe integration for recurring billing, customer portals, and automated delivery scheduling. The infrastructure behind predictable monthly revenue.
- Stripe recurring billing
- Customer self-service portal
- Tiered pricing and plan management
- Automated email sequences
Why My Ecommerce Builds Are Different
Most agencies will assign your project to whoever's free. Here's what you get instead.
One person, start to finish
I do the strategy, the design, the development, the SEO, and the launch. No project managers relaying messages. No junior developers learning on your budget. When you call, you speak to the person who built your site. That's not a limitation — it's the service.
26 years of pattern recognition
I've been building websites professionally since 1999. I've seen platforms come and go — osCommerce, Zen Cart, Magento, WooCommerce, EKM — and I know what survives and what doesn't. That experience means I spot problems before they cost you money, and I know what actually converts because I've tested it across hundreds of builds.
Honest recommendations
I'll tell you if a full ecommerce site isn't what you need. If a £49/month business website with a payment link will do the job, that's what I'll recommend. I'd rather build something that fits your business than sell you infrastructure you'll never use.
SEO is built in, not bolted on
Every ecommerce site I build includes proper SEO foundations — structured data, clean URLs, fast page speeds, mobile optimisation, and keyword-targeted content structure. Building a beautiful shop that nobody can find is a waste of your money.
Real ecommerce projects, not mockups
Fireproof Spray — EKM to Shopify Migration
A specialist fire safety products company stuck on EKM, a platform with limited SEO capability and no growth path. I migrated the entire operation to Shopify — products, customers, order history — with full URL redirect mapping to preserve their existing search rankings. The kind of project where attention to detail is the difference between a smooth transition and a rankings collapse.
Read the migration storySix Luxury Ecommerce Properties
I built and manage six luxury home ecommerce sites in garden furniture, indoor furniture, office furniture, candles, lighting, and rugs. High average order values, dropship fulfilment, supplier CSV integration, and SEO content strategies tailored to each vertical. These aren't client sites — they're my own businesses, which means every decision has my money behind it.
Platform Migrations
I've moved businesses from WooCommerce, EKM, Magento, and bespoke systems to platforms that actually serve them. Every migration includes a full SEO audit, 301 redirect mapping, and post-launch monitoring. The goal isn't just a new site — it's preserving everything you've already built in search.
The Technology Stack
I use three tools well, not thirty tools badly. Each one earns its place.
Shopify
For ecommerce
The best ecommerce platform for UK small businesses. Handles payments, shipping, inventory, and tax. 99.99% uptime. PCI compliant. I don't fight the platform — I build on top of what it does well.
Astro
For content and speed
When the site is primarily content — catalogues, service pages, blog — Astro delivers page speeds that Shopify and WordPress simply cannot match. Perfect for businesses where SEO performance matters more than a checkout flow.
Stripe
For payments
For businesses that need payment processing without full ecommerce infrastructure. One-off payments, subscriptions, payment links — Stripe integrates with any site I build and charges less than PayPal for UK transactions.
What I don't use: WordPress, WooCommerce, Wix, Squarespace, or page builders. Not because they're inherently bad, but because they carry technical debt that costs you money over time. I've spent 26 years watching businesses outgrow them and pay twice — once to build, and once to migrate.

Not sure which route is right?
The honest answer depends on what you're selling, how many products you have, and how you process orders. I'll talk you through it on a call — no pressure, no hard sell. If you don't need a Shopify store, I'll tell you. Based in Telford, Shropshire, serving businesses across the UK.
How I Work
No mystery, no jargon. Four steps from conversation to live store.
A Conversation
I learn what you sell, who buys it, and what your business actually needs. This conversation decides the platform, the scope, and the price.
I Build
Design, development, product setup, payment integration, SEO foundations. You see progress throughout, not a big reveal at the end.
You Review
Walk through every page, test the checkout, try the admin. Adjustments happen here, before launch, not after.
Launch + Support
Go live with training and 30 days of support included. Ongoing retainers available if you want continued SEO and development.

"I originally reached out to Tony to help with SEO but unfortunately my website crashed to a point where I thought it was beyond repair. I was panicking and didn't know what to do when Tony asked if I would allow him to help me recover my website. After a very long few weeks I got a message from Tony telling me my website is back up and running. Something I thought was gone for good. Couldn't recommend him enough for his work. He also helped with SEO for the website! Thank you Tony"
